David Leppert is Professor of Neurology at the University Hospital Basel and Senior Research Associate at the Research Center for Clinical Neuroimmunology and Neuroscience Basel (RC2NB) at University of Basel. He leads clinical and translational research programs focused on neuroimmunological diseases, with a focus on Multiple Sclerosis, Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorders NMOSD) and Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein Antibody-associated Disease (MOGAD). His research centers on the identification and validation of biomarkers to monitor disease activity and therapeutic response, as well as prognostication of disease course, with a special emphasis on neuroaxonal injury and repair mechanisms. By integrating molecular, imaging, and clinical approaches, his work aims to advance personalized treatment strategies and to improve the long-term outcome for patients with Multiple Sclerosis and related disorders.
